Interview with Joe Leitmann, PhD, Lead Disaster Risk Management Specialist, Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), The World Bank Joe Leitmann spoke to the Aid and International Development Forum at the 2017 Global Disaster Relief and Development Summit in Washington, D.C. about the World Bank’s recent initiatives and his perspectives on disaster response. The World Bank recently launched the Global Crisis Risk Management Platform, which brings together all disaster relief and development organizations to respond more effectively to crises in the developing world. The time between the disaster and the beginning of recovery is of the utmost importance to Mr. Leitmann as he believes the larger this gap, the harder it is to rebuild.
